a BIG night

That's right. It happened before our eyes... Davis grew up. Well, maybe not completely, but he did reach a BIG milestone for us last night. He slept in a big boy bed all night long!!!

I know, I know, most of you all (or the regular readers who have 2 year old kids) have had big kid beds for some time now. But not Davis. He's always been a champion sleeper and we weren't prepared to change a thing about that!!! He NEVER has climbed into or out of his crib. He still had the bumper on (which was supposed to go away at like 6 months), he never fussed or caused us issues. He could stay in one place in the morning until we went to free him...

but then the darn doctor started telling me about developmental milestones and how she thought he needed to be into a 'big boy' bed by 2 and a half. I was trying to put that change off until we moved into the new house, but since that appears to be a DISTANT dream, I figure it was time. So, I bit the bullet. Nap time was a no go, but at bed time, he pointed at it and said "big boy bed?" So Chris and I shrugged our shoulders and went for it.

I was nervous that he would wake up in the middle of the night and go wandering the house looking for us... all I could dream of was him taking one step near the stairs so that's when I decided I would sleep out in the hallway just to make sure he didn't get too far. He slept great until about 1am when I woke up with him in my face saying "Mommy?" It scared me to death, but he didn't seem too disoriented. In fact, all he wanted was for me to tuck him back in. So, off we went. And asleep he stayed until about 8 am!! What a good kid!!

We are currently undergoing nap time #1 with Davis in the big boy bed. And it appears to be a success. So, what can I say? We have a big boy in the house!!!
