Whole Lotta Shakin' Going on.

Normally, today's post would be about something very mundane... The Chicken Nuggets from Lunch that I cooked too long, or how I JUST KNOW that Tess' other grandmother let her eat Play-Doh or Paint yesterday morning (let's just say "you know what" is Green. VERY, VERY Green). And you all would probably laugh and say "wow, she really is a Stay At Home Mom, isn't she?" But NO!! We had actual, full-fledged excitement here in good old Louisville, Kentucky!!!

This morning at 5:37:57 am, Chris and I were awakened with a start... an Earthquake literally shook us out of bed! Chris dashed to the door to check on Davis and Tess (who didn't make a peep mind you) and I sat up straight. The conversation went as such:

Chris: What's going on?
MB: Do you feel that?
Chris: Oh my!
MB: That's gotta be an earthquake!
Chris: Wow, and it just keeps going!
(Silence as we both "ride it out", hearing the house settle, the floors creak, the windows shake)
MB: huh, well you don't have that everyday.
Chris: Yeah, thankfully!

Without a doubt, one of the STRANGEST things that has ever happened in my life. And let me just say, I hope we don't have that happen again anytime soon. I have personally felt one aftershock today (the kids kind of looked at me like, What was that? and kept on playing out on the deck). (Edited to add: I just read the news that the aftershock was 4.5) But, there was no real damage or anything. Ended up being a 5.2 Magnitude Quake centered in West Salem, IL. (halfway b/t Louisville and St. Louis)

I tell you what, that was a BIG FIRST for this family!! Although very scary and a little weird, it's a good "wake up call" to always be prepared... so here's your PSA for the day, a preparedness checklist:

Hope everyone is doing well! We're Rocking and a Rolling!! ;-)
