Merry Christmas 2008!! (Our Annual Christmas Letter)

Merry Christmas! Well, if you are here, you probably received one of these:

We’ve moved on into the 21st century with our holiday letter this year and figured it was easier (and more economical) for us to post the letter here. In addition, it might get some of you to bookmark our site and keep up with us on a consistent basis here at BlogSpot! So, as you read this letter, remember to scroll on down to find out what all our year REALLY looked like with our weekly updates and be sure to check in periodically to find out what all we are up to here in Kentucky.

So how in the world did 366 days go by so VERY quickly? Seems that we say that every year, but this year seemed to especially fly by. Here’s what’s been going on in our world over the past year:

Chris:
Is still working in process improvement over at UPS. We are certainly blessed to have him in a location SO close to our home (about a 10 minute commute compared to the 45 minutes when he was at the airport!) and he has taken on lots of new challenges and growing experiences at the Air Group Building. He’s been really busy keeping the house in Tip-Top-Shape since we listed it for sale in July and is already getting ready for next Spring with the prospect of a new house and the yard to go along with it! The past month has found Chris leading our Small Group through our Church’s community groups.

Mary Beth:
Started a new job as a Nuclear Medical Technologist with Alliance Imaging back in May. She couldn’t be happier with her co-workers and loved the job so much, she went back to Full-Time Status (something she hadn’t done since Davis was born) in October. It’s been a really rewarding experience in that she gets to travel to new sites everyday and doesn’t have to deal with all the “office politics” that she now realizes were dragging her down at her old job. In addition, she’s able to spend just as much time with Davis as she did when she was part-time! (Yea! 10 hour work days!) Free time will find her attached to her camera at any given moment and as she likes to point out to Chris, “if it’s not in a Scrapbook, then it didn’t happen.” Also a blessing, the KidWay ministry at church where Mary Beth still sings with the Adult Vocal Team.

Davis:
is every bit of a Two-Year Old. He’s been growing by leaps and bounds this year and his Second birthday (July 18th) apparently flipped a switch that opened the world of speaking in sentences. He’s constantly jabbering to those of us he knows well, but can still be a little shy when put in a new situation. He LOVES being outdoors and we are definitely seeing an affinity for sports in him (especially Soccer, Basketball and Baseball). In addition, the kid can hunt down music and will “rock it out” like no one else! His big news of the year came in May when he took a tumble and broke his leg. But, as of his last visit, all is well in that department and he seems none the worse for the wear. Favorite things at the moment: a love for animals, any book someone is willing to read to him, Curious George, Little Einsteins, anything with wheels and a special love for Garbage Trucks. He is ALL BOY!

Our family as a whole:
We made a big decision this year in that we put our Condo up on the market back in July. While we LOVE this house, we are finding that we desperately need space for the two year old to roam free. We’ve had LOTS of lookers, but no concrete offers and are just praying that the right people come along at the right time. We are abundantly aware that this is the best time to buy and worst time to sell… but we feel that God is in control and the right things will happen for us in HIS time. Of course, that doesn’t make it any easier to keep the house tidy while you’re trying to raise a toddler who just wants his train table back! Anyhow, stay tuned to this blogsite for all the info when we FINALLY get to get moving!!!

Our Extended Families:
are for the most part doing well. The Lorson’s are recovering from a year where Mary Beth’s mother gave them scare after scare after scare. After her Knee Replacement in November of last year, we seemed to be taking her into the hospital for various ailments leading up to a Stroke which she had in March of 2008. Only by the Lord’s graciousness is she here today with absolutely NO side-effects. She is back to her old self these days (watching lots of basketball and spoiling Davis rotten) and we are grateful for that! Chris’s mom and Step-Dad (Jean and Scott Duckworth) are enjoying the fact that Jean retired this past year from Tennessee Wesleyan College. They are still living in Etowah, Tennessee and we are looking forward to their upcoming visit in December. Chris’s Dad and Step-Mom (Richard and Esther Schindler) are still playing musical houses down in Amelia Island, Florida but are doing well. We really enjoyed a trip to Gatlinburg with them, Chris’ brother and his family back in June.

And really, that’s about it. It’s been a crazy year, filled with all the mundane and routine as well as wacky and shocking things that fill everyone’s lives. We are humbled every day at the blessings the Lord has given us and were forced MANY times this year to be thankful just for the blessing of Good Health for our friends and family. God’s blessings have been numerous and we do not take for granted any day that we are given!

We are looking forward with great anticipation to the year to come… lots of changes, a big move, and even more adventures are on the horizon for us! PLEASE keep in touch and let us know how YOU are doing, too!! Even if you just get to leave a comment here every once in awhile or send us an email, we thrive on knowing what’s going on in the lives of our friends and family.

With LOTS of love,
The Schindler’s
Chris, Mary Beth and Davis
