Weekend Goings-On

Okay, so we had a garage sale on Saturday that was super successful! Thanks Gigi, Mimi, Pop-Pop and Diane for helping out!

Emmy was not acting herself on Thursday, so we ran up to the doctor with a 101 degree fever. Doc didn't find anything but thought she might be on the start of something... Friday Night brought out the barking cough. Chris took her in to the doctor's on Saturday morning to confirm the Croup. Ugh. Poor thing sounded SO miserable!! Anyhow, she officially has her first illness now. Good thing we made it 8 and 1/2 months... I think that's a good sign that her immune system is good. :-) (Knock on wood.)

Davis, Chris and I headed up to the zoo on Monday. Davis was itching to see the animals and get to the water park! He had a lot of fun and Chris and I didn't mind getting a little sun, too. Davis makes friends so easily... I hope that continues! Anyhow, he was on one of the slides and made a friend. She dragged him around by the hand the rest of the day! We asked Davis later what her name was and he of course didn't know. I said, "Did she ask your name?" He said yes. I asked, "Why didn't you ask her name?" He says, "I didn't need to know!" Lovely, little man.

Bye, Bye Vanguard

Well, Davis' time at Vanguard Academy has come to an end. Wednesday was 3 year old Half-Day preschool graduation. Davis has done so well at Vanguard! What a great experience. Almost all of that can be directly linked to his teacher, Ms. Martin. She has done such a great job with Davis and the other kids. We're going to hunt her down once it's time for Emmy to head off to preschool!!

Davis and Ms. Martin:



Graduation consisted of the kids singing some songs for the parents and showing their progress. Cute! Davis did great! Anna was in Hawaii with her parents so it was just Davis, Rocco and Maylee. Davis and Maylee sang well and Rocco, well, Rocco freaked out. But that apparently happens a lot when his mom is around. :-(






Funny moment: They sang a song that at the end Ms. Martin asks each kid who they love... Maylee: "I love my mommy and daddy and my baby sister." Davis: "I love my mommy and daddy and my grandma and grandpa and Rocco." Rocco: "No one!" Everyone laughed and Rocco's dad of course said "you may want to re-evaluate your answer, Davis!" It was cute.

Davis has 2 weeks of summer camp with Ms. Martin in June and then starts 4 year old preschool at Middletown United Methodist in August. Growing fast, I tell ya.

Oh! Big news: Chris will be getting his braces off at the end of June! Good job, Honey!!!

Houston, we have a tooth.

That's right! It's here!! Months of waiting are finally over.

Emmy popped her first tooth yesterday. Luckily, I was off work early enough to get to get her up from the afternoon nap. Then when changing the diaper, I noticed that little sucker starting to poke through! Woohoo!

Her bottom front right tooth. (Bottom right central incisor for those of you who are medically inclined.) Same as Davis' first. Heaven help us!!! By this age, Davis had 6 teeth shining through. Emmy, just the one. Again, so.very.different.

Almost-A-Crawlin'

On my list of things to pick up before I walked out of the door today was my camera so that I could share some pictures with you fine folks. Needless to say, I forgot to grab it. Go figure, right?

Okay, so happenings in our world:

We went to Tennessee this past weekend and had a good time seeing Chris' mom. Davis: In LOVE with the dog. Here's hoping our allegies will allow us to get one soon (Note: Highly unlikely due to the whole lot of sneezing that was going on). Kids did a good job on the trip but BOY OH BOY do we need ourselves a swagger-wagon. ;-)

We are in full-on Garage Sale mode for this weekend. Mom's house this weekend, our house next weekend. So if you're looking for a deal (especially on a tons of baby stuff) come on by. OH! And my sister Laura is coming in town for the day! Hooray!! It's her birthday this weekend, so it's a nice treat to get to see her in addition to it being a nice weekend to get to celebrate her!

And finally, the real reason I needed to load up some pictures, Miss Emmy is just OH SO CLOSE to crawling. Literally, not going to surprise me when it happens ANYDAY now. Oh boy, how different are boys and girls?!?!? We thought Davis would never get moving (he never really crawled, just went to Cruising and Walking) and now this one wants to beat the land-speed record for 8 month old kids. She's a crazy one, I tell ya.

toot, toot.

Okay, so Davis had his annual "evaluation" at Preschool. Kind of a "let's see what he knows" kind of thing. And allow me to toot the little guy's horn! What a smart little guy (or so we think!)
At age 3 years, 9 months, Davis: Knows his colors and shapes, can count to twenty, can visually recognize 1 to 10, knows his ABCs, can visually identify about 15 letters, uses scissors, loves to complete patterns, LOVES mazes and puzzles, can sight read about 15 words, and can write his first name. Gotta love Preschool.
Mrs. Martin has been just the best type of teacher we could have hoped for. Davis will be going to a new school next year (where we feel comfortable with the teachers and the program. Plus, it's closer to home and will probably have some of the kids who he will be going to Kindergarten with). Hard to believe his 3 year old preschool at Vanguard Academy will be finishing up in just a couple of weeks!!!!

Short post today, just needed to celebrate the fact that this past weekend, we unpacked the LAST BOX from our move. This is big, people. You know how OCD I am about clutter and what not and to have reclaimed our basement is a BIG DEAL!! And I personally think we did pretty well to have all boxes unpacked in a 2500 square foot house within ONE year of moving. My mom claims she still has boxes from our move 12 years ago. :-)
